Home Minister Orders Police Crackdown on Extortionists and Armed Criminals Nationwide
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has directed the police to compile comprehensive and impartial lists of extortionists and armed criminals, announcing that a nationwide special operation will begin soon, with a strong focus on the capital.
The minister made the remarks on Wednesday while speaking to journalists after an exchange meeting with senior officials at the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) headquarters in Dhaka.
He made it clear that the focus is on anyone disrupting society. “We’ll identify those creating chaos and bring them firmly under the law,” he said, adding that he has specifically told police to stay completely impartial while compiling these lists.
