Kolkata | Saturday, October 17, 2026
KOLKATA: As Durga Puja celebrations gather momentum across the city, Kolkata is expected to experience warm and humid weather on Saturday, October 17, with partly cloudy skies and the possibility of isolated light rainfall. With thousands of devotees preparing to visit pandals across the city, changing weather conditions could influence outdoor festivities and travel plans.
According to weather forecasts, the maximum temperature in Kolkata is likely to hover between 33ยฐC and 34ยฐC, while the minimum temperature may remain around 25ยฐC to 26ยฐC. Despite occasional cloud cover, high humidity could make daytime conditions uncomfortable, particularly for those travelling long distances or waiting in queues outside popular Durga Puja pandals.
The possibility of rainfall continues to remain a concern during the festive period. While some forecasts indicate hazy conditions and a relatively low probability of rain, others suggest cloudy skies accompanied by light showers. However, widespread heavy rainfall is not currently indicated in the available city forecasts for Saturday.
Weather conditions across South Bengal have remained under close observation ahead of the festival. Recent forecasts have indicated the possibility of scattered light to moderate rainfall in Kolkata and neighbouring districts, including Howrah, North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas. Although occasional showers may interrupt outdoor activities, the outlook suggests that rainfall during the main festive days may be less intense than earlier spells.
Meanwhile, the combination of heat and moisture in the atmosphere is expected to keep the city feeling uncomfortable during the afternoon. Visitors planning to explore popular pandals are advised to carry drinking water and umbrellas, particularly as weather conditions may change during the day.
Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to remain around 33ยฐC over the next few days before gradually declining. Forecasts indicate that Kolkata may experience slightly cooler conditions towards the middle of next week, with daytime temperatures potentially falling to around 31ยฐC to 32ยฐC.
With Durga Puja festivities continuing across Kolkata, the weather remains an important factor for pandal-hoppers, organisers and commuters. Although occasional showers cannot be ruled out, the current outlook offers some hope that celebrations will continue without major weather-related disruption.
Residents and visitors are advised to follow updates from the India Meteorological Departmentโs Regional Meteorological Centre in Kolkata for the latest rainfall forecasts and weather warnings.
