Chinese Vice Foreign Minister to Visit Dhaka Next Month

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong will come to Dhaka on April 2 for a two-day visit. He will lead China’s team in the 14th Bangladesh-China Diplomatic Consultations. This is the first high-level visit from China to Bangladesh since the new BNP government took office under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The talks will happen at the start of next month in Dhaka.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen shared the news with Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman during a courtesy call on Thursday morning. The meeting took place at the foreign minister’s residence, and Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kobir was also present there.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the 14th Bangladesh-China Diplomatic Consultations will look at all areas of the relationship between the two countries. They will also discuss new ways to work together in fields that both sides care about.

During his stay, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong is expected to meet several high-level leaders in Bangladesh.

Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman thanked China for its long-time support and help in Bangladesh’s growth and progress. He said he hopes this visit, coming soon after the new government was formed, will bring fresh energy and strength to the friendship and ties between Bangladesh and China.
