PM Pledges Liberal Democracy and Cultural Progress at Ekushey Padak Event

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman promised today to build a liberal democratic system based on strong morals and respect. This will help Bangladesh advance in education, literature, arts, science, and technology.

Speaking at the Ekushey Padak-2026 award ceremony in Osmani Memorial Auditorium this morning, he stressed that politicizing education, research, arts, and literature harms civilized societies.

“I believe politicizing these areas is never a sign of a civilized society,” the Prime Minister said. He added that his democratic government will create a state with moral standards and dignity. This will boost progress across all fields of knowledge and science. In this effort, he seeks advice from the nation’s respected experts.

The Prime Minister said the award is more than a medal. It recalls Bangladesh’s history from the 1952 Language Movement to today. It also highlights people who have enriched themselves, the nation, and society through education, literature, arts, research, and contributions.
