PM Tarique Rahman Pays Tribute and Special Prayers at Shaheed Minar

On International Mother Language Day, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman honored the martyrs of the 1952 Language Movement with deep respect and went beyond tradition by staying to offer special prayers at the Central Shaheed Minar.

The Prime Minister arrived at the monument grounds shortly before midnight and placed a wreath at exactly 12:08 am to pay his respects to those who sacrificed their lives for Bangladesh’s mother tongue. He then joined a special prayer led by Hafez Mowlana Nazir Mahmud, the Senior Imam and Khatib of Dhaka University Central Mosque.

After the prayers concluded, Tarique Rahman laid additional wreaths. These tributes were placed on behalf of his cabinet, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and the family of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia.

This heartfelt and extended gesture by the Prime Minister is widely regarded as a poignant way to honor the nation’s historical legacy and express deep gratitude to its revered heroes on this significant occasion.
