Delhi Man Going To Meet Ex-Colleague Murdered In Gurugram, Body Dumped In Drain

New Delhi: A 31-year-old man from Delhi who went to Gurugram to meet his ex-colleague was allegedly murdered by her and her partner. His body was later found dumped in a drain.

The victim has been identified as Yuvraj Singh Manchanda. He was about to get married in a month.

On September 6, Yuvraj went to Lajpat Nagar market with his sisters to buy a sherwani for his wedding. Around 4:15 pm, they were eating at Golden Dragon restaurant when Yuvraj said he had an urgent meeting with his former colleague in Gurugram and left.

His sisters returned home in a cab.

His family spoke to him around 7 pm. He said he would be back by 10 pm. But he never returned. His phone became unreachable.

On September 8 at 4:16 pm, the family got their last WhatsApp message from him, after which his phone switched off completely.

On September 11, the family filed a missing complaint at Lajpat Nagar police station.

Police Cremated Body Without Informing Family

The family alleged that Gurugram police had found a body on September 10 but did not inform them. The information was also not uploaded on ZIPNET (the government portal for unidentified bodies) on time.

Police cremated the body on September 14 as unidentified. Two days later, on September 16, the family was informed about his death.

The family has now demanded that the post-mortem report, DNA samples, photos and Yuvraj’s belongings be preserved.

Yuvraj was the only earning member of his family. His father is paralysed and his mother has a heart disease.

During investigation, police found that Yuvraj’s last call was to a woman named Vats, his former colleague in Gurugram. Her phone was switched off.

Police checked CCTV footage and technical data and found a new mobile number being used by Vats. She was tracked and arrested from Uttarakhand. Her partner was also arrested.

During interrogation, both accused confessed that they killed Yuvraj and threw his body in a drain near their house in Gurugram.

Police suspect a financial dispute behind the murder, but Yuvraj’s family says the woman is hiding the real reason.

Both accused have been sent to 5-day police custody. Further investigation is underway.
