NEET PG 2025: Transparency or Just Another Scandal?

When the Supreme Court ordered the release of the NEET PG 2025 answer key, it was celebrated as a milestone for fairness. For the first time, medical aspirants believed they would finally see how their answers were evaluated. But what was supposed to be a victory for transparency has quickly turned into another storm of confusion, anger, and suspicion.

A Crisis of Credibility

Across the country, candidates are reporting shocking discrepancies in their scores—some claiming differences as high as 80 to 200 marks compared to their expectations. This isn’t a matter of one or two errors; aspirants insist it’s widespread, affecting thousands. For many, the results are not just disappointing but outright “mathematically impossible.”

Some say they attempted well over 170 questions yet received scores reflecting far fewer correct responses. Others allege that technical glitches, like exam software freezing or crashing midway, may have tampered with their attempts. These issues are not minor lapses—they are career-defining errors that can push ranks down by thousands, shattering years of preparation in a single blow.

The NDA Controversy

Students have also raised concerns about an alleged confidentiality clause that restricts them from openly discussing the exam paper. Many argue that such a clause creates fear and prevents aspirants from pointing out genuine errors. If true, this raises serious questions about transparency—especially at a time when the system is being pushed toward openness. Instead of empowering candidates with transparency, this clause strips them of their right to accountability.

Official Promises vs. Student Demands

NBEMS has promised to release the answer key “soon,” but the process itself is under fire. Rather than providing the question paper, candidates’ responses, and the correct answers —the board plans to release keys with complicated ID codes tied to a “master paper.” Students argue this format makes it nearly impossible to verify answers accurately, reducing “transparency” to nothing more than a token gesture.

Mental Toll and Unanswered Questions

Beyond numbers, the controversy has taken a heavy toll on aspirants’ mental health. Many feel they’ve wasted another year of their lives, robbed of peace and trust in the system. For them, this isn’t just about marks—it’s about dignity, justice, and the faith that a national exam should be above suspicion.

The Way Forward

The situation leaves one question hanging: is this really transparency, or just damage control? If the system is fair, why the hesitation? Why hide behind codes, NDAs, and delayed disclosures?

The path to restoring credibility is clear:

Release question papers with answers and response sheets in full.

Provide audit logs where technical glitches are reported.

Remove coercive NDAs that silence candidates.

Allow a challenge mechanism for glaring discrepancies.


Anything less will only deepen mistrust.


The release of the NEET PG 2025 answer key was meant to be a moment of reform. Instead, it risks exposing the deep cracks in India’s examination system. For aspirants who have given years of hard work and sacrifice, justice does not lie in promises or partial measures. It lies in full disclosure, accountability, and fairness.
