A 15 year old Class 9 student was injured after a classmate allegedly attacked him with a sharp object inside a prominent Kolkata school on Wednesday. The incident took place in the classroom in front of a teacher, according to a statement issued by South Point School.

The incident occurred around 12:29 pm, with reports suggesting that an argument over books may have triggered the attack. Police have been informed about the incident. No detention has been made so far, while officials are examining the school’s complaint and the circumstances surrounding the attack.

The incident has left students, teachers and parents shocked. The school said students who witnessed the incident would also receive counselling and assured that steps would be taken to maintain a safe and supportive environment.
