Centre to Set Up 50,000 New Atal Tinkering Labs to Boost Innovation in Schools

To nurture creativity and scientific temper among students, the Union Government has announced the establishment of 50,000 new Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) in schools across the country.

Replying to the supplementaries during the Question hour in the Rajya Sabha, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan informed that more than 10,000 ATLs have already been set up under the Atal Innovation Mission, playing a crucial role in promoting hands-on learning and innovation at the school level.

The Minister also highlighted that the initiative is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modiโ€™s vision to encourage research, experimentation, and innovation among young minds.

The expansion of ATLโ€™s aims to ensure that students from diverse regions gain access to modern tools, technology, and mentorship, preparing them for future challenges in science and technology.

The proposed large scale expansion is expected to significantly strengthen Indiaโ€™s innovation ecosystem by enabling lakhs of students to explore robotics, electronics, 3D printing, AI, and other emerging technologies.
