Fourth-Year IIT Bombay Student Dies by Suicide, Investigation Underway

Mumbai: A 22-year-old student of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay died by suicide early Saturday morning after allegedly jumping from a hostel building in Powai, Mumbai.
The student, identified as Rohit Sinha, was in his fourth year of the Metallurgical Sciences program and hailed from Delhi. According to police sources, the incident occurred around 2:30 am when Sinha reportedly jumped from the 10th floor of his hostel.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but was declared dead on arrival by medical staff.
The Powai police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and begun an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
