Government Streamlines Airport Protocol for Prime Minister’s Foreign Trips

The Bangladesh government has introduced a revised protocol to simplify arrangements at the airport whenever the Prime Minister leaves for or returns from official or state visits abroad.

In a fresh directive from the Cabinet Division, only a select group of top officials will now be required to be present for these occasions, marking a clear shift toward more efficient and focused state representation.

Under the updated guidelines, the following senior figures must attend. And they are the senior-most minister in the Cabinet, the Chief Whip of the National Parliament, the Cabinet Secretary, and the Prime Ministerโ€™s Secretary must be present at the airport during the prime ministerโ€™s departure for and return from international visits.

The Cabinet Division emphasized that this new directive fully replaces the previous instructions issued on August 28, 2024.

Government officials explained that the change aims to streamline the formalities, cut down on unnecessary gatherings, and ensure dignified yet practical representation during the Prime Minister’s international travels. This adjustment is seen as part of broader efforts to make official protocols more efficient while maintaining proper respect for the office.
