Fatal Fighter Jet Crash: IAF Sukhoi Su-30MKI Goes Down in Assam

In the Karbi Anglong area of Assam, a Sukhoi Su-30MKI aircraft fell during a normal training flight, killing two pilots in a devastating Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter jet accident. The incident shocked the defense community and prompted an investigation into the cause of the disaster.

According to officials, the twin-seater fighter aircraft left the Jorhat Air Force Station on Thursday night for a training trip. Shortly after departure, at around 7:42 p.m., the aircraft appeared to lose radar contact with ground control, which alarmed authorities.

Search and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to locate the aircraft. When the debris was discovered in the untamed Karbi Anglong region, around 60 kilometers from Jorhat, it was later determined that the airplane had crashed. Both of the pilots on board perished in the collision.

The Indian Air Force identified the deceased officers as Squadron Leader Anuj and Flight Lieutenant Purvesh Duragkar. In an official statement, the IAF expressed its heartfelt condolences for the two officers who lost their lives in the crash.

The officials say a comprehensive investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the disaster. According to defense sources, the Sukhoi Su-30MKI, one of the IAF’s most advanced fighter aircraft, is often used for air defense and combat operations.
