Nitish kumar takes oath as Chief minister of Bihar for the 10th time in Patna.

Patna: Janta dal (united) leader Nitish kumar sworn in as chief minister of Bihar for the 10th time. Swearing ceremony took place at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Senior NDA leaders including PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda and several other chief ministers were present. 

Bihar assembly elections took place from 6-11 November, the counting and results were declared on 14 November 2025. The results indicated a landslide victory for NDA and a paradoxical situation of Mahagathbandhan. Bihar legislative assembly consists of a total of 243 seats out of which NDA acquired a historical victory with 202 seats, and on the other hand opposition was just able to secure 33-35 seats. 

The bottom root division of votes can be counted as follows: 

• BJP: 89 seats (single largest party in the Assembly). 

• Janata Dal (United) — JD(U): 85 seats. 

• Rashtriya Janata Dal — RJD: 25 seats. 

• Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) — LJP(RV): 19 seats. 

• Indian National Congress: 6 seats. 

• CPI(ML) (Liberation): 2 seats; CPI: 1 seat; plus smaller parties/independents filling remaining seats to reach 243.

Along with Nitish kumar as CM of Bihar, Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha took oaths as Deputy CMs of Bihar. Both of them are from BJP party. Leaders and ministers from BJP, JD(U) and allied NDA partners took oaths; several prominent BJP faces are expected to get portfolios.

Bihar has entered a new chapter, and all eyes are now on what this government will actually deliver. Nitish Kumar’s return for the 10th time shows how quickly politics can shift, and how strongly alliances can shape the state’s future. The elections may be over, but the real test begins now — whether this huge mandate turns into real work on the ground. For now, people are simply watching, hoping the promises made during the campaign find their way into everyday life.
