“President’s Rule after May 4!” — SIR controversy peaks! On the same day as Trinamool’s counter program, Suvendu Adhikari issues a stern warning.

Kolkata : Political tensions have reached their peak across West Bengal over the voter list revision program (SIR) that began on Tuesday. Amid this charged atmosphere, while Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress (TMC) National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee led a protest march from Red Road to Jorasanko in Kolkata, Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari joined the “Parivartan Yatra” from Sodepur in North 24 Parganas.

After the rally — which was held with the permission of the Calcutta High Court — Suvendu Adhikari issued a stern warning to the Trinamool. He said,

Even if Trinamool protests, the SIR process cannot be stopped in the state.”

He further claimed,

“If the voter list is not published by the 7th, elections will not take place. After midnight on May 4, President’s Rule will be imposed in the state.”

Adhikari also emphasized that the Election Commission is a constitutional body responsible for preparing voter lists and ensuring the formation of a democratic government.

Meanwhile, several senior TMC leaders, ministers, and hundreds of party workers and supporters participated in Trinamool’s mega protest march opposing the SIR process.

On the same day, Suvendu Adhikari also spoke out about the mysterious death of a man named Pradip Kar in Panihati. Alleging foul play, he said,

“Even death is being politicized. How can a man who has four missing fingers write a suicide note? I will prove that note is fake. No one should believe Mamata Banerjee’s lies.”
