Kalyan publicly threatens to kill Suvendu and Sukanta.

Kolkata : The state’s political scene has once again erupted in controversy following Trinamool Congress MP and lawyer Kalyan Banerjee’s explosive remarks. Aimed at BJP’s two top leaders, Sukanta Majumdar and Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, Kalyan Banerjee said, “If they step out without CISF protection, I will kill them.” He also mocked both leaders, calling them “goats” and “rams.”

The incident took place on Monday in Howrah. Speaking to the media, Kalyan Banerjee declared,
“They roam around with CISF security from Delhi. I challenge them—let them come out without CISF, I’ll see to it. I’ll kill them.”
As soon as the video of his statement surfaced, BJP leaders reacted with outrage.

Union Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar responded sharply, saying,
“This is the real face of Trinamool. Those who pretend to uphold democracy actually practice politics of terror and intimidation.”
Suvendu Adhikari also condemned the remark, saying,
“For a sitting Member of Parliament to issue a public death threat—this is a criminal offense. We will raise the matter both with the Election Commission and in Parliament.”

BJP’s top leadership has strongly denounced the comment and decided to write to the Union Home Ministry demanding action. A party spokesperson said,
“An MP who is about to attend the upcoming winter session of Parliament should know the legal consequences of such statements.”

Legal experts have pointed out that Kalyan Banerjee’s comments could fall under Section 506 of the Indian Penal Code (criminal intimidation). They have described the statement as “deeply alarming” for a democratic society when it comes from a lawmaker.

Political analysts note that, with municipal and panchayat elections approaching, tensions between parties are already high, and such provocative remarks could worsen the polarization. While the BJP plans to raise the matter in Parliament, the Trinamool Congress seems keen to contain the fallout quickly.

Meanwhile, Kalyan Banerjee has refused to apologize. When asked by reporters, he defended his comments, saying,
“I stand by what I said. BJP leaders are doing politics over people’s blood.”
This defiance has only intensified the controversy.

In short, Kalyan Banerjee’s death threat remarks have reignited political fire in West Bengal. All eyes are now on Delhi, as the upcoming winter session of Parliament is expected to witness a major uproar over this issue.
