Putin Honors CIA Official’s Son with Special Award

10 August-Kolkata, India: President of Russia Vladimir Putin presented a special award in memory of Michael Gloss to the US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, who is a senior official of the CIA. The war between Russia and Ukraine resulted in the death of Michael Gloss. According to some sources, the Russian President directly handed the Order of Lenin to the American representative who is close to the family.

Who is Michael Gloss

According to some sources, attackers reportedly killed the 21-year-old Michael Gloss in Ukraine last year. He was the son of Juliann Gallina, the CIA’s Deputy Director for digital innovation. Following the confirmation that US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet in Alaska next Friday to discuss the future of the war in Ukraine, sources reported this interaction.

Gloss received the Order of Lenin posthumously, but neither the Kremlin nor the Russian Foreign Ministry have made this public. It is an award from the Soviet era that honours exceptional civilian service. However, itโ€™s still unclear exactly who did what with the reward.

The case of Michael Gloss

Meanwhile, Witkoff, the CIA, and the White House have not responded to this matter. It is important to remember that Russian media initially reported Gloss’s passing in April. In a statement later that month, the CIA stated that ‘Gloss had been dealing with mental health issues and that his passing was not related to national security.’

Reports indicated that Gloss was never a part of the CIA, and he joined Russian forces in the autumn of 2023, although at first, the Kremlin seemed unaware of his family history. In November 2024, someone finally released Gloss’s obituary, stating that “they killed him in Eastern Europe” on April 4 of that year.

Larry Gross on his son

Michael Gloss was the son of the late Iraq war veteran Larry Gloss, and during an interview, his father spoke about his son’s mental illness, which he struggled with throughout his whole life.

Larry Gloss said, “Our biggest fear while we waited for him to be repatriated was that someone over there [in Moscow] would put two and two together, figure out who his mother was, and use him as a prop.”
