The man arrested in connection with the shooting incident at the White House Correspondentsโ Association dinner has been identified as Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old computer engineer and tutor from Torrance, California, according to law enforcement officials cited by the Associated Press (AP).
Officials told AP that Allen was taken into custody shortly after the attack outside the Washington Hilton, where President Donald Trump and senior U.S. officials were present. Law enforcement officials also told AP that Allen had legally purchased firearms, including a shotgun and a semiautomatic pistol, in the years prior to the incident. Authorities are now examining how these weapons were brought into proximity of a high-security political event.
