Carlsen Takes Aim at Gukesh Again in Esports World Cup

August 2-Kolkata, India: During a light-hearted challenge at the Esports World Cup, Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen took another jab at the current world champion, D Gukesh. Someone instructed him not to speak until he heard the name of a player who was superior to him. Names like Bobby Fischer caused him to remain silent, but when someone brought up Garry Kasparov, he finally spoke.

After Magnus Carlsen defeated the Iranian chessmaster Alireza Firouzja by winning all three games in the final, he won his first Chess Esports World Cup. Carlsen helped Team Liquid gain an advantage in the overall team championship in addition to taking home the $250,000 prize money.

Even if Carlsen’s victory was significant, the media is once more making headlines about his feud with Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh.

Before the SuperUnited Rapid and Blitz tournament began, Carlsen took another shot at Gukesh by acknowledging him as a “weaker opponent” and later stated that he was not on his level. Gukesh won the tournament’s rapid section after defeating Carlsen once more. But in the end, Carlsen recovered admirably to win the main title.
