A dominant four-wicket victory for Gujarat Titans against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Narendra Modi Stadium this evening! Captain Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to field; therefore his bowlers were tested in good bowling conditions right from the start with his decision yielding a fantastic result for Gujarat Titans by restricting Royal Challengers Bengaluru to an insignificant total.
This match was the 42nd match of the IPL 2026 season and provided an example of tactical supremacy over the opposition team, through expert execution of their planning by the bowlers – putting consistent pressure on the bats including dominating with no-balls, etc., a clear statement made in front of an almost sold-out crowd.
RCB Batting Fades Under Pressure
The Royal Challengers Bangalore began their innings with lots of desire, and following a quick start to the innings with Virat Kohli being aggressive, Kohli dominated early on until Kagiso Rabadaโs wicket of Kohli in his first over stopped momentum for the visiting team.
The loss of Kohliโs wicket triggered a middle-order collapse with an inability to reconstruct as Gujaratโs bowlers exploited the surface perfectly. Devdutt Padikkal was fighting hard to make 40 runs but did not get any support from the rest of the batters. The visiting team was bowled out for 155 runs and lost to an outstanding performance from the home team.
Titans Chase Down Target With Ease
Gujarat Titans came out of the gates strong, scoring quickly and taking advantage of the aggressive play of both Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler. With two wickets down, they had already posted 69 runs at the end of the power-play (5 overs), greatly limiting the chances for RCB to come away with the win. The Titans continued to score boundaries, keeping the required run-rate well within range.
RCB was able to slow the Titans’ innings down briefly with some solid bowling, but ultimately, the Titans ended up with 4 wickets in hand and 25 balls remaining in their innings. The batting unit proved very capable of being serious contenders for this year’s championship with their performance throughout the game. Everyone who attended The Ashes will undoubtedly be buzzing from the experience of watching their home-town hero.
