Travis Head Stars as SRH Chase Down Massive Total Against MI

Today at Wankhede Stadium, Sunrisers Hyderabad completed an unreal six-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians MI (Mids) with just eight-ball left to bat. It was a lot of fun for both teams involved as this match was definitely competitive by nature, with MI gaining the advantage after winning the toss and batting first. They put up a score of 243 runs for the SRH team who will successfully score 249 runs in just less than the eight remaining overs.
On a warm Wednesday night, the two teams displayed some magnificent hitting while they played a match full of excitement featuring more than 240 runs scored by each team. The MI middle order did not allow SRH to leave Wankhede Stadium feeling positive about their comeback potential due to the poise the SRH players displayed in both of their innings’ second half.
Mumbaiโs Massive Total Led by Rickelton
Ryan Rickelton led MI’s massive total with his outstanding performance. He posted an incredible 123 runs off of 55 trips to the plate while blasting 8 gigantic home runs (6s). He and his batting partner, Will Jacks, set a record for the first innings partnership for MI during the game.
Because of the Wankhede flatty surface, MI hit for 243 runs off 5 wins, and that leads us to believe that MI had a certain lead. Although SRH did provide some resistance to their attacks during their innings, Rickelton continued to dominate MI until the end of the second innings. Most spectators and cricket experts expected that MI would have no problem securing a badly needed victory.
The Travis Head Masterclass at Wankhede
Travis Head was fantastic to start out the first half of this game by smashing every pace bowler for MI during that phase. Head scored 76 runs off 30 balls in this phase with eight sixes. His quick start kept the requirements flat and slightly below needed scoring rates for the length of the first phase of the match.
After Travis Head established the foundation, it was Heinrich Klaasen who took the initiative and finished the scoring for SRH. He added 65 runs in quick fashion, which ensured that there were no hiccups in the scoring for SRH. The victory was secured for SRH when Salil Arora struck the boundary that put the final score on the board of 249/4 in the 19th over of the game.
With the performance of Travis Head and the subsequent performances of his teammates, SRH continues to remain in a very good position on the points table; while, on the other hand, MI continues to struggle with their bowling consistency as their lineup is full of world-class talent. Jasprit Bumrah and the remaining MI bowlers had no answers for the powerful batting of SRH today. This will go down as one of the most memorable high-scoring games of the 2026 season, with SRH looking to carry the strong performance into their next game.
