Mother drowns 3 month old son, arrested

A 22 year old woman named Karishma Baghel of Ahmedabad was arrested on Monday for the murder of her 3 month old son after the police searched her house and discovered the child’s body floating in an underground tank.
Karishma’s husband, Dilip Baghel registered a missing complaint on Saturday after their son went missing. The accused, Karishma initially stated that she was looking after the child along with her mother-in-law, Gudi. Gudi left to clean outside while her husband, Dilip was asleep. Karishma went to the bathroom and upon her arrival she found her son missing. She was taken in for interrogation. Police detected loopholes in her statement and later searched into their house to unveil the body of the child in the tank. The post- mortem report verified the death of the child. On Monday night, Karishma was arrested and she confessed to the police about the crime. She stated, “Baby wouldn’t stop crying, so I drowned him”. As per reports, she drowned the child in the tank to make it look like an accidental death. A senior inspector reported that Karishma was unwell both physically and mentally. They are probing the accused’s mental state to ascertain the reason behind the action.
