Bengaluru: Man arrested for rape and murder of six-year-old girl

A 25-year-old man was arrested in Bengaluru on Monday, January 13 for allegedly raping and murdering a six-year-old girl. The incident occurred in Bengaluru’s Hoysala Nagar at approximately 7.30 pm.

The accused was identified as Abhishek Kumar, a labourer hailing from Bihar. He allegedly lured the girl to an isolated location while her parents, who are also migrant labourers, were at work and raped her.

The crime came to light when locals found the girl and caught the accused. They beat him up before handing him over to the police. DCP East, D Devraj, confirmed the arrest.

The Ramamurthy Nagar police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to the police, the child died at the scene, after which Abhishek abandoned her body. When the parents returned home and found the child missing, they began a search that led to the discovery of her body.
