Byju’s Employees Launch Online Petition Over Unpaid Dues and Financial Mismanagement

Showing their growing discontent, employees of WhiteHat Jr, now rebranded as Byju’s Future School, have launched an online petition demanding the education technology company clear pending dues. The online petition gaining tremendous significance reflects concerns over unpaid salaries, improper tax deductions, and unprocessed refunds affecting teachers and students alike.

The petition has brought out very strongly how Byju’s has consistently been failing to pay its teachers and other staff members. “The company deducts 10 percent of the earnings of employees every month for income tax, but it never pays this amount to the government, thus not providing Form 16 for the financial year 2023-2024,” the petition added. This has hugely pressured the finances of many.

The petition reads, “We are employees at WhiteHat Jr, a company that was acquired by Byju’s. This department was named Byju’s Future School. For some time now, Byju’s has not met its financial obligations towards teachers and other members like me and our fellow colleagues. We are yet to be paid, and the company has been deducting 10% from our earnings every month for taxes which, apparently, hasn’t been remitted to the government since we haven’t received our Form 16 for the financial year 2023-2024.”

The problem goes beyond teachers; it reaches out to the students. The petition reads that thousands of dollars in fees of many students are stuck, with absolutely no response or refund from the company’s side. In spite of these financial irregularities, Byju’s is still scheduling classes, which has served only to irritate teachers and parents alike.

The petition underlines: “Here is what is at stake: not just our hard-earned wages but also the trust of the parents and the students. Though the exact figures might not be available, we know this is an issue stretching across the thousands of teachers employed and millions of students enrolled. This situation is especially unbearable given the fact that we are teachers meant to shape young minds and hence deserve to be treated fairly.”

The silence from higher management at Byju’s and continued negligence have been the reasons the employees took this matter public. This petition is addressed to Byju’s to clear all dues, pending salaries, and taxes, with answers on stuck payments and refunds. Employees want transparency, timely and just payments, and respect for their profession.

As the petition gathers momentum, how serious these allegations are against Byju’s or its response to such demands made by the employees and the student community at large remains to be seen.
