Mamata Banerjee, leader of Trinamool Congress, intensified her campaign in Chowringhee constituency through a speech which was quite fiery during the 2026 election campaigns in West Bengal.

“I was born in Bengal and I will die here only. Once I win the battle in Bengal, I will move to Delhi and capture it,” Mamata said addressing a crowd at a campaign event of Trinamool Congress.

“I assure you that you can never defeat me. We always rise against any sort of injustice. I do not care about the post, but I wish for the demolition of BJP in Delhi. While it is certain that the party will be demolished in Bengal, it should also be expelled from Delhi,” Mamata said.

The CM is backing Nayna Bandopadhyay, who is competing with Santosh Pathak of the BJP in the constituency.

It is alleged that she had โ€œwritten downโ€ the names of the people working for the BJP.

“You believe you can monitor us? You have only accepted each individual into the BJP after carefully examining their family history, and you have nominated officers according to the same standards,” she stated.

A senior leader of BJP Amit Shah, who is also contesting from Kolkata, shot back at her remarks. “Nothing remains here anymore. How would she come to Delhi? What do you want me to say?” he joked at Mamata Banerjee’s remarks.

As of yesterday, over 3.35 crore people voted in 152 constituencies across the state as Banerjee was campaigning in Chowringhee. Along with other seats in Kolkata, the Chowringee seatโ€”held by the Trinamool since 2011โ€”will cast ballots in the second round on April 29. Following a 90-lakh purge during the voter roll revision earlier this year, Bengal had a record 92.8% voter turnout in the first phase of voting on Thursday.
