Dhoni Set to Miss Start of IPL 2026

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is likely to miss the opening two weeks of the Indian Premier League 2026 due to a calf strain, dealing an early setback for the Chennai Super Kings. The veteran wicketkeeper-batter is currently undergoing rehabilitation as the franchise monitors his recovery closely.

CSK, one of the most successful teams in IPL history, begin their campaign against the Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati. They are also scheduled to face Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals in the first two weeksโ€”fixtures Dhoni is expected to miss.

With Dhoni nearing 45 and managing recurring fitness concerns, including a past knee surgery, CSK may rely on alternative wicketkeeping options such as Sanju Samson, Kartik Sharma, and Urvil Patel during his absence.

While fans will miss his presence on the field, CSK will be hopeful that their iconic leader returns fully fit as the tournament progresses.
