Parakram Diwas 2026 To Be Organised By Ministry Of Culture To Mark Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s 129th Birth Anniversary

To mark the 129th birthday anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the Ministry Of Culture will hold Parakram Diwas-2026 celebrations from January 23 in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, with the events continuing till January 25. Similar programmes will be organised at 13 locations across the country linked to Netaji’s life and contributions to India’s freedom struggle.
The principal event in the islands will be hosted at Sri Vijaya Puram, where the inaugural programme is scheduled for January 23 at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Stadium. During the opening ceremony, the Prime Minister’s message on Parakram Diwas 2026 will be played. The event will be attended by Lieutenant Governor Admiral D.K. Joshi (Retd.) as the Chief Guest.
According to the Ministry, the observance is intended to remember Netaji’s ideals and his role in India’s Independence movement, while also reflecting the values of bravery, sacrifice and national pride associated with his legacy.
The three-day programme will include a mix of cultural performances, exhibitions and visual presentations, including a drone display. Several well-known artistes from across the country are expected to perform, alongside students from Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
An exhibition focusing on the life and work of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose will be open to the public on January 24 and 25, accompanied by folk performances representing different regions of India. A stage production by the National School Of Drama will also form part of the cultural schedule.
In addition to the commemorative events, visitors will be able to sample local island food and view traditional handicrafts, offering a glimpse into the cultural heritage of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The ministry said the nationwide observance aims to honour Netaji’s lasting influence while highlighting India’s cultural diversity and unity.
