From Bangkok Dreams To Hell: Youths Are Falling Prey to Cyber Slavery Rackets
Mir Sajjad Ali got a dream job from Thailand which turned into a nightmare. He was trapped into a cyber crime den operating from the Thailand and Myanmar Border. They promised him of a well paid role as “digital sales executive” in Bangkok, but in reality ended up in an confined location where the call centres run illegal operations.
According to his relatives, Mir made a very distress call on January 16th, he said that they were made to work for 18-20 hours straight and the ones who didn’t obey were beaten and abused. This matter actually came to focus after MP Asaduddin Owaisi posted about 16 Indian Nationals, including youths from Hyderabad, being lured to Thailand and then, “enslaved”, their phones and passports were also taken.
Officials have given the statement that several youths have been targeted by such job rackets. In November,2025, Andhra Pradesh Authorities, with the help from Centre and Thailand Officials rescued around 370 people from similar cyber scam centres and brought them back to India.
