BJP Campaign Intensifies in West Bengal: Rekha Gupta Stumps for Dilip Ghosh

In an explosive demonstration of power, the Roadshow of Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta began from Kharagpur Sadar today. This event is being organized to boost the chances of winning the forthcoming West Bengal Assembly elections of 2026 by senior BJP leader and ex-president of the party in the state, Dilip Ghosh.

The roadshow, conducted across Kharagpur Sadar constituency referred to as the “Railway town,” saw the presence of many BJP supporters. Riding in a decorated vehicle together with Ghosh, the new Delhi CM since February 2025, emphasized the “double-engine growth” formula she gave credit to the BJP government for in Delhi as well as at the Center.

The upcoming election of 2026 in West Bengal will be another critical battle between the reigning Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the BJP. The most important part here is that Ghosh Dilip is contesting again from Kharagpur Sadar, the constituency where he bagged the position as an MLA in 2016. Ghosh has been the MLA of Medinipur, but now he has come back as one of the BJP candidates of its first list of 144 contestants.

The presence of Gupta in the electoral processions of West Bengal indicates that the BJP has embarked upon a strategy of deploying their key faces at the national level in an attempt to win over voters residing in the cities, such as Kharagpur.

This electoral process is a continuation of the political success of Gupta in the city of Delhi, which had seen the BJP win in 2025, bringing an end to their 30-year absence from governance there. In her road show, Gupta assured “visionary planning” of West Bengal once again under the BJP rule.

The voting in this particular region will take place in the first phase of elections on April 23, while the vote counting will be carried out on May 4, 2026.
