Delhi Kalkaji Gang-Rape: 3 Men Posing As Cops Rape 17-Year-Old In Park

New Delhi: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three men posing as police personnel inside Astha Kunj Park in Delhi’s Kalkaji area on Monday evening. All three accused have been arrested.

The accused have been identified as Asif, Hemant and his younger brother Mukesh, police said on Tuesday.

According to police, the girl had gone to Kalkaji Temple with her male friend and later went to Astha Kunj Park around 8:45 PM. Three men approached them posing as policemen. They threatened to register a case against them and separated the girl from her friend.

The accused took the girl to a secluded spot inside the park and allegedly sexually assaulted her. They also threatened the girl and her friend with a weapon, police said.

After the complaint, several police teams were formed to trace the accused. A team led by Inspector Rajender Dagar got information about the movement of the main accused Asif near Amar Colony.

Police said Asif fired three rounds at the police team when asked to surrender. One bullet hit a head constable’s bulletproof jacket. In self-defence, police fired two rounds and one bullet hit Asif in the leg. He was caught at the spot. The other two accused were also arrested later.

A case has been registered under POCSO Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police said this is the fourth case of sexual assault on a minor reported in Delhi in the last two weeks. Earlier, cases were reported from Deshbandhu Gupta Road, Sadar Bazaar and Swaroop Nagar.

Investigation is underway.
