International Meth Ring Busted In Delhi With ₹21 Crore Seizure

Delhi, September 4, 2025 — The Delhi Police Crime Branch delivered a decisive blow to international drug smuggling by seizing seven kilograms of methamphetamine valued at approximately ₹21 crore. The case unraveled across coordinated raids in Delhi, Greater Noida, and Bangalore, leading to six arrests, including two Nigerian nationals, thus exposing a well-organized global meth network.
A Cartel Operating Across Borders
The Crime Branch investigation revealed that the meth seizure in Delhi was not an isolated incident but part of a structured international cartel. Officers traced the trail back to couriers and handlers operating between India, Myanmar, and Thailand, with Delhi, Noida, and Bengaluru serving as key distribution hubs. The cartel allegedly smuggled meth in small consignments hidden inside electronic goods and courier parcels to avoid detection.
According to police sources, communication between the accused was routed through encrypted mobile apps, making it difficult to intercept. Payments moved through layers of hawala channels, with some transactions also routed via cryptocurrency wallets. Investigators found that traffickers had already funneled at least ₹50 crore worth of methamphetamine into metropolitan markets in the last year, and they had sent the profits back to overseas handlers.
What is striking is the cartel’s ability to recruit locals alongside foreign nationals, creating a mixed network of couriers, street distributors, and financiers. This hybrid structure gave them flexibility and a wider reach, while also making the racket harder to dismantle.
Meth’s Growing Grip: From Parties to Public Health Crisis
Methamphetamine used to be considered a niche party drug. Now, it is seeping into young lives with alarming speed. From May to July alone, frontline agencies intercepted several foreign couriers carrying meth inside cornflake packets, juice cartons, and salwar suits travelling by train and bus from Delhi to Bengaluru. Experts warn that organized lab-run syndicates are spreading meth like wildfire across the urban youth scene.
