PM Modi and VP Radhakrishnan honor Babasaheb Ambedkar on his 135th birthday.

NEW DELHI: Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid tribute to Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar at Prerna Sthal in the parliament premises on the occasion of 135th Ambedkar Jayanti.

Babasaheb was honored by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiran Rijiju, Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, and other politicians.

On the eve of Ambedkar Jayanti, President Droupadi Murmu also extended greetings to fellow citizens and paid tribute to the architect of the Indian Constitution.

PM Modi stated that his nation-building efforts are “deeply motivating” in an X post. “Tributes to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on his birth anniversary. His efforts towards nation-building are deeply motivating. His life and work continue to inspire generations to build a just and progressive society,” PM Modi wrote.

 Additionally, President Droupadi Murmu honored the creator of the Indian Constitution and greeted fellow residents on the eve of Ambedkar Jayanti.

 In a social media post, she writes, “On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Babasaheb Doctor Bhimrao Ambedkar, the Chief Architect of the Indian Constitution and the great social reformer, I pay my respectful homage to him.”

President Murmu highlighted Ambedkar’s lifetime achievements to social justice and nation-building, characterizing him as a jurist, economist, deep thinker, legal scholar, and ardent supporter of an equal social structure.

As the primary architect of the Indian Constitution, BR Ambedkar, sometimes referred to as “Babasaheb,” is also referred to as the “Father of the Indian Constitution.” In addition, Ambedkar served as India’s first minister of justice and law after independence.

Babasaheb was born in Madhya Pradesh into a poor Dalit Mahar family. He relentlessly battled for the equal rights of socially marginalized groups. He was later hailed as a “Dalit Icon” for his efforts to advance their rights.

On December 6, 1956, he passed away. Ambedkar received India’s highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna, in 1990.
