CISF Jawan Injured in Firing Outside BJP Candidate’s Residence in Bhatpara Ahead of April 29 Polls

A CISF jawan got hit during sudden firing outside Pawan Singh’s home. The shocking incident happened late Sunday night on April 26, 2026. The violence broke out in Bhatpara, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. The clash intensified just before crucial polling on April 29, 2026. The injured jawan, Yogesh Sharma, served in the CISF security team. He suffered a painful bullet injury in his leg during firing. The Election Commission demanded a detailed report after the violent incident. Tension had already erupted earlier in Jagaddal over an alleged worker assault. Angry supporters gathered outside the police station, and the confrontation intensified rapidly. The heated clash soon turned violent, and stones flew outside the station. 

TMC worker assault sparks clash at Jagaddal police station

Police reported tension started in the Jagaddal area before the firing incident near the residence. A TMC worker faced sudden assault while placing party flags and banners. Several TMC leaders rushed to the local police station to complain. Supporters from both sides gathered quickly outside the police station during the escalation. Groups engaged in a heated exchange that quickly turned into a physical scuffle. 

Reports confirmed stone pelting outside the police station before the situation came under control. The confrontation created rising tension across the surrounding areas near the Bhatpara region. This early clash set the stage for later escalation near the BJP candidate’s residence. Authorities monitored developments as political tension increased before the election phase. The conflict reflected rising electoral tension ahead of polling scheduled for April 29, 2026. 

A local TMC leader said at the police station during the complaint filing: “Our worker was assaulted. When we went to file a complaint, we were attacked. We believed a police station was the safest place, but that notion has been shattered.”

Eyewitnesses saw crude bombs explode during a violent confrontation nearby. Sudden chaos erupted as at least one round of firing occurred. Officials rushed him quickly and admitted him to the hospital for treatment.

The Election Commission reacted swiftly and demanded a detailed report. Security forces intensified patrols and increased alert near the residence. The shocking incident triggered serious concerns over the election security situation.
