Two encounters in one night: Delhi Police arrest both accused of Dabri murder

In a dramatic overnight operation, the Delhi Police managed to arrest both main accused involved in the Dabri murder case after two separate encounters, bringing some relief to a shaken local community.

The arrests came within hours of a violent incident in Delhi’s Dabri area, where a series of stabbing attacks left one person dead and several others seriously injured. The incidents, which reportedly took place within a short span, created panic among residents and raised concerns over safety in the locality

Acting swiftly, police teams from the Dwarka district launched a late-night operation based on specific intelligence inputs. The first encounter was carried out by the Special Staff, leading to the arrest of Rohit Kumar, also known as “Noda,” who was allegedly involved in the murder and attempted murder cases. During the operation, he reportedly tried to evade arrest and was injured in the leg after an exchange of fire with the police.

In a separate operation the same night, the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) tracked down the second accused, Prem Sharma alias Himanshu, near the Najafgarh area. According to officials, he too attempted to flee and allegedly opened fire at the police team. In retaliatory action, he was shot in the leg and apprehended

Police sources said that both accused had prior criminal records and were believed to have carried out the attacks using sharp weapons. Despite the danger during the encounters, police personnel managed to avoid serious injuries, with protective gear preventing major harm in at least one instance.

The coordinated effort, involving multiple teams working through the night, reflects what officials described as a “zero tolerance” approach towards violent crime in the city.

While the arrests mark a significant breakthrough in the Dabri murder case, the incident highlights the sudden and brutal nature of street violence that can unsettle entire neighborhoods. For now, residents may feel a sense of relief, but the case also serves as a reminder of the constant vigilance required to keep urban spaces safe
