Beijing Unveils Advanced Missiles at Grand Victory Day Celebration

3 September-Kolkata, India: On Wednesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping displayed Beijing’s military power and unveiled some of its most sophisticated missile systems at a huge parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of Japan’s defeat in World War II.

It is for the first time that a superpower nation like China showcased the Dong Feng-31BJ and  Dong Feng-61 intercontinental ballistic missiles with nuclear capability.

Given that Beijing’s arsenal of weaponry is expanding rapidly and also finding some new buyers for weapons. The fact which scares the most for a Western nation is that China has the potential to cover the entire west, Xi’s triumphal procession also ended with a clear warning to the West.

The Chinese military also displayed several YJ-series hypersonic missiles, including the YJ-15, YJ-17, YJ-19, and YJ-20. They call these missiles ‘Ying Ji’ or ‘eagle attack,’ and designers create them to launch from aircraft, vessels, or ships to destroy big enemy ships.

Many weapon analysts praise the YJ weaponry systems and also highlight China’s quick advancement in hypersonic weapons, a technology that is revolutionary due to its capacity to circumvent conventional defences.

The Chinese military parade conluded with 80,000 doves were released into the sky.

Kim and Putin stand by Xi

The Chinese President used the event to present his idea of a new world order, flanked by Kim Jong-un of North Korea and Vladimir Putin of Russia. He said on his opening speech that “China firmly stands on the right side of history.” Xi Jingping also highlighted on the current days tensions between various nations, he further added “Today humanity again has to choose between peace and war.”

Kim travelled to Beijing by armoured train after touring a missile laboratory, while Putin and Xi had earlier met to negotiate a new long-term gas agreement. Following the signing of military agreements last year, analysts are intently monitoring any indications of possible trilateral defence cooperation between China, Russia, and North Korea.
