BRICS Summit 2026 Delhi Traffic Advisory:Check Alternate Routes for Airport and Railway Station

New Delhi: Delhi Traffic Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory for the 18th BRICS Summit 2026 to be held at Bharat Mandapam from September 11 to 13, 2026. Special traffic regulations have been imposed mainly in New Delhi district and surrounding areas to ensure smooth movement and security of heads of state, dignitaries and global delegates attending the summit.

Passengers who have to catch flights or trains have been advised to use alternative routes to reach the airport and railway stations.

Delhi Traffic Police has advised commuters to plan their journey in advance, leave with extra time, and use metro services instead of private vehicles to avoid inconvenience. According to Delhi Traffic Police, a total of 22 diversion points have been set up and more than 35 roads/routes have been declared controlled in Delhi between September 11 and 13 due to the BRICS Summit.

Avoid these routes:

Avoid Mathura Road (Ashram to Subramaniam Bharti Marg), C-Hexagon, Sher Shah Road, Purana Qila Road, Bhagwan Das Road, Tilak Marg, Sikandra Road, Pandit Pant Marg, Sardar Patel Marg, Kautilya Marg, Teen Murti Marg, Shanti Path, Akbar Road, Janpath, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Road, Firoz Shah Road, Prithviraj Road and surrounding roads as diversions will be in place.

Public Transport and Metro Services:

Traffic Police said Delhi Metro services will be available normally at all stations. However, due to security reasons, entry and exit at some specific stations like Supreme Court Metro Station may be controlled or temporarily closed. Routes of buses, autos and taxis will also be diverted during VVIP movements. Live information about diversions and closed roads will also be available on Google Maps and Mappls App.

Ban on entry of heavy vehicles:

Entry of heavy and commercial vehicles into Delhi which are going out of Delhi or have no fixed destination in Delhi will be restricted. However, ambulances, fire brigades and other emergency vehicles will be given unobstructed passage on priority basis.

22 Major Diversion Junctions:

Vehicles will be diverted by deploying pickets at 22 important intersections and junctions of the city for security reasons. These mainly include Dr. Dinesh Nandini Dalmia Chowk, Ram Charan Agrawal Chowk (I.T.O.), Mir Dard Chowk, Patel Chowk, Mandi House, Janpath-Connaught Place Outer Circle, Gole Dak Khana, and Teen Murti Marg.

35+ Controlled VVIP Corridors: Direct movement of general private and commercial vehicles will be restricted on more than 35 major roads like Sardar Patel Marg, Shanti Path, Akbar Road, Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, Janpath, Prithviraj Road, Purana Qila Road, C-Hexagon (India Gate) and Safdarjung Road.
