State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi visits Delhi to discuss mutual growth of relations with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

Wang Yi arrived in New Delhi on Monday for a two-day visit, during which he is scheduled to hold the 24th round of border discussions with Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Wangโs visit comes just days ahead of Prime Minister Modiโs upcoming trip to China โ his first in seven years โ to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, a regional political and security bloc that also includes Russia.
The Minister of External Affairs, Subrahmanyamย Jaishankar emphasized the importance of maintaining peace along the India-China border during his meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who arrived in New Delhi on Monday, Jaishankar remarked that “differences should not escalate into disputes.” He noted that the meeting served as a valuable opportunity to assess the state of bilateral relations and to share perspectives on global developments and areas of shared concern. Addressing Wang, Jaishankar acknowledged that the two countries have gone through a challenging phase but emphasized the need to move forward based on mutual respect, understanding, and common interests.

The bilateral meeting was held soon after Wang Yi arrived for a two-day visit centered on the Special Representatives-level dialogue concerning the long-standing boundary issue.
Jaishankar in his opening statement told Wang that the discussion on border issues hold an immense importance as for the positive momentum in tie between both nations is the ability to maintain tranquility and peace over the border areas.
He also remarked that, both the countries now aim to move ahead after a “difficult period of time” in the bilateral ties.
Wang Cites Progress in China-India Ties, Urges Deeper Cooperation
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on [insert date] highlighted recent diplomatic steps between India and China, pointing to efforts to stabilise border tensions and resume cultural exchanges.
โWe have maintained peace and tranquility in the border areas and resumed the Indian pilgrimage to Mount Gang Renpoche and Lake Mapam Yum Tso in the Xizang Autonomous Region,โ Wang said.
He also called for stronger cooperation and mutual support, saying both countries should resist external interference and build on recent momentum.
โWe share confidence to expand cooperation and consolidate the improving trajectory of China-India relations,โ Wang said. โAs we pursue our respective national rejuvenation, we can contribute to each otherโs success and provide much-needed certainty to Asia and the world.โ
