Political Storm Brews Over Pahalgam Attack: Kharge Accuses Modi of Ignoring Intelligence Warnings

Kharge Alleges Intelligence Oversight by PM Modi

In the aftermath of the devastating Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has leveled serious allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Kharge asserts that the Prime Minister ignored prior intelligence warnings about potential threats in the region. He further claims that Modi canceled a scheduled visit to Jammu and Kashmir shortly before the attack, suggesting that the cancellation was due to these ignored warnings.

Kharge’s accusations have intensified the political discourse, with the Congress party demanding accountability and transparency regarding the government’s handling of intelligence inputs related to the attack.

BJP Refutes Claims, Emphasizes Government’s Commitment

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly refuted Kharge’s allegations, labeling them as baseless and politically motivated. Party spokespersons have emphasized that the government is taking all necessary measures to address the security situation and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The BJP has also highlighted the Prime Minister’s unequivocal condemnation of the attack and his assurance that those responsible will face the full force of the law. They argue that the opposition’s focus should be on national unity and support for the victims, rather than politicizing a tragic event.

Government’s Response and Ongoing Security Measures

In response to the attack, the government has initiated several counter-terrorism operations across Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces are actively pursuing leads to apprehend those involved in the planning and execution of the attack.

Additionally, the Ministry of Home Affairs has directed states and Union Territories to conduct civil defense drills to enhance preparedness for potential future threats. These measures are part of a broader strategy to strengthen national security and prevent similar incidents.
