All You Need To Know About Met Gala 2025

NEW-YORK : The annual Metropolitan Art Gala aka Met Gala is back with its new theme and elegance. The art charity event which happens annually in New York’s famous Metropolitan Art Museum is famous for its A-list attendees and their costume extravaganza. The gala, which usually happens first Sunday of May is happening on Monday and comes with a new theme, guestlist and hosts like every year. Attendance is typically by invitation, though reports indicate that individual tickets are priced at $75,000, while full tables begin at $350,000.

“Superfine : Tailoring Black Style” is the theme for the year

This years theme will be “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” which celebrates black fashion and the art of tailoring. The dress code “Tailored For You” would be a representation of menswear and suiting from a Black cultural perspective. The theme is said to be inspired from the 2009 Monica L Miller book “Slaves to Fashion” which talks about how finely tailored fashion was previously seen as an indicator of slavery, which later became an act of rebellion, pride, and Black cultural expression.

As per some fashion enthusiasts, the theme also honors late menswear designer Waraire Boswell, whose legacy of sharp suiting and stylistic innovation will be seen in many of the evening’s outfits.

Like every year, Vogue Editor-In-Chief, Anna Wintour makes the guestlist and hosts the event, alongside Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, ASAP Rocky, Pharrell Williams joining her as co-chairs this year. LeBron James will join as honorary chair this year.

A prominent host committee comprised of Janelle Monáe, Spike Lee, and Angel Reese is also sponsoring the gala’s event

Sneak-Peak into this year’s guestlist:

The art gala is known for its fundraising charity for the fashion industry. The attendees being from Fashion, entertainment, philanthropy, sports — gives the event a worldwide recognition. Last year alone a record-breaking 26 million was raised by the museum.

The guestlist change every year, but according to sources, regular attendees like Blake Lively, husband Ryan Reynolds, Sarah Jessica Parker are among the few who will be missing out the gala this year.

A lot of couple duos are reported to make their entrance like Rihanna-ASAP Rocky, Zendaya-Tom Holland and Kylie Jenner-Timothee Chalamet.

Many Indian Celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani will be making their debut with the Met this year. Priyanka Chopra Jonas, like every year, is gracing the event again this year

Where to Watch

While the event has a rigorous no-phone rule, the red carpet of the Met Gala will be livestreamed starting 6 p.m. ET on Vogue’s online platforms and on YouTube.
