Youth Must Reject Forces Against Humanism: PM Modi

Prime Minister Modi, speaking to a gathering of over 3,000 youth leaders from across India, warned against growing tendencies that threaten the humanistic ethos of the nation. He urged young Indians to embrace values rooted in social harmony and mutual respect.

“We need to save the young generations from tendencies that are against humanism,” said the Prime Minister. โ€œThe forces that attempt to divide or dehumanize must be firmly resisted by our youth, who are the carriers of Indiaโ€™s civilisational strength.โ€

Reference to Swami Vivekanandaโ€™s Vision

PM Modi delivered his address on National Youth Day. The day marks Swami Vivekanandaโ€™s birth anniversary. He invoked Vivekanandaโ€™s teachings. He urged youth to take up spiritual and civic responsibility.

โ€œSwami Vivekananda believed the youth have the ability to resolve all problems. His vision was based on character, discipline, and national service. We must ensure these values live on in our modern youth,โ€ Modi noted.

He further added that the ideals of service and sacrifice, central to Vivekanandaโ€™s philosophy, should inspire the roadmap to a developed India.

A Developed India Needs Responsible Young Citizens

The Prime Minister reiterated the governmentโ€™s vision for a ‘Viksit Bharat’ or Developed India by the year 2047, the centenary of Indiaโ€™s independence. He placed the responsibility of this transformation squarely on the shoulders of the young population.

โ€œYouth are not just the future; they are the present. Their energy must align with a larger purposeโ€”building a developed, strong, and compassionate India,โ€ Modi asserted.

He encouraged active participation in social, civic, and digital initiatives as part of this nation-building agenda.

Role of โ€˜Mera Yuva Bharatโ€™ Platform

The Prime Minister highlighted the need for structured youth engagement. He spoke about the recently launched โ€˜Mera Yuva Bharatโ€™ (MY Bharat) platform. It aims to connect young citizens and empower them. The platform offers service opportunities and digital outreach.

โ€œThis platform is not just a tool; it is a movement. MY Bharat will ensure that our youth do not drift into apathy or extremism but instead move forward in the service of society,โ€ he explained.

Modi urged the youth to use such platforms as channels for both individual development and national contribution.

Speaking about the importance of mental wellness, the Prime Minister advocated for regular practice of yoga and meditation among the youth. He called these traditional practices critical in combating emotional instability, stress, and aggressionโ€”factors that contribute to anti-humanistic behaviors.

โ€œYoga offers balance, focus, and resilience. It connects the mind and body and enables our youth to remain mentally strong even amid external pressure,โ€ he said.
