Authorities Crack Down on Seditious Comments in the Wake of Pahalgam Attack, 16 Arrested Across Assam.

After the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, Assam authorities responded swiftly. The attack claimed the lives of 26 individuals, mostly tourists. They have taken action against individuals making seditious remarks about the incident. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that 16 people have been arrested across Assam. These arrests were made for allegedly spreading provocative content. Some of the content was seen as anti-national on social media.

Aminul Islam, an opposition MLA from the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), is among those arrested. He has been accused of making pro-Pakistan statements regarding the attack.

Authorities have also arrested a woman, Dadhichi Dimple, from Golaghat district, for making controversial remarks related to the attack. She was detained by the Guwahati Crime Branch and later handed over to the local police.

Sarma, while speaking to reporters in Guwahati, stated, “There are no similarities between Bharat and Pakistan. The two countries are enemy nations and we must remain like that.”
