The President of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, has formally requested the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, to guarantee the safety of Kashmiri residents living in other parts of the country. This request stems from concerns regarding threats issued by extremist right-wing elements in response to the Pahalgam attack.

In a recent social media post, the former Chief Minister stated that she had also engaged in a conversation with the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, to extend her condolences in relation to the tragic attack that occurred in Pahalgam.

“Spoke with Home Minister @AmitShah ji to extend my deepest condolences & also express solidarity with bereaved families of the Pahalgam terror attack. We stand with the nation in this hour of mourning. Also requested him to intervene in the wake of certain elements openly threatening Kashmiri students & traders across various states. Urged him to intervene without delay to ensure their safety & protection wherever such incidents are being reported,” she said.

J&K CM Abdullah said “The J&K government is in touch with the governments…”

Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah had also said that he is in touch with his counterparts in states where reports have emerged about the harassment and threats against Kashmiri students in the wake of the attack on tourists in Pahalgam.

โ€œThe J&K government is in touch with the governments of the states where these reports are originating from. Iโ€™m also in touch with my counterpart Chief Ministers in these states & have requested they take extra care,โ€ he said on X.

People’s Conference president Sajad Lone also urged the Central government to act.

“There have been many incidents across the country wherein Kashmiri students are being harassed, beaten up, bullied and even asked to vacate their residential premises. I request the union government to please ensure the safety of Kashmiri students,” Lone posted on X.
