Masterda Surya Sen: Remembering the Man Who Inspired a Nation

Masterda Surya Sen, who was physically very thin and sick, was jokingly told by his comrades that if the police come, they will arrest you and take you away, Masterda himself would smile and say see you.

In the English calendar, that day was 10th November, 1926 in the afternoon. The house servant is coming down the stairs slowly with a tea kettle in hand The Hindustani sepoy scolded him very loudly, – ‘Where is Yagega? Go inside’ The ice melted a little later, the servant saluted the policeman, saluted twice to the constable guarding the gate and went out to get tea. Even the police did not realize that with dust in their eyes, the undisputed leader of India’s armed revolution, Masterda Surya Sen, went beyond the police’s grasp.Masterda used to laugh in response to the jokes of his comrades and said that those who have more strength, can run, can be caught first. I can withdraw in time The big truth is that more than once he has escaped the eyes of the police, while searching for him, the police have realized that with their sharp wit, resourcefulness, and unequaled bravery, Masterda has fooled them and gone out of touch. That day was an ordinary day, but Surya Sen was not wrong to realize that the day was not very ordinary. He saw that the British police had surrounded the whole house in search of revolutionaries. Even before this, on October 25, 1924, the police surrounded his house in Chittagong, but the police did not have the power to arrest him.But what will happen now! The entire house is surrounded by a huge police force, there is no chance of escape! Discerning Surya Sen instantly took off his clothes, Genji, and threw away his shoes A very impure, dirty, greasy towel from someone hanging next to him threw his hair on his shoulder and ruffled his hair.He came down the stairs slowly with a tea kettle in his hand A Hindustani policeman was standing in front of the outer door of the house. Go inside’Two steps back, he gave a salute to the police, swallowed and said, “The man above wants to have tea; he gave money: three cups of tea should be brought.”He opened his right hand and showed money The police constable, however, is doing his duty, he said plainly – ‘Nehi must be brought; go inside’. Masterda hesitated a little There was a policeman standing next to him, he was a Bengali The house servant’s apparition looked through the eyes of the policeman and said ‘Sepai, leave it, you house servant’. Immediately after giving a salute to the constable, he saluted twice to the constable and went out to fetch the tea on foot, he went out and did not enter the house.Yes, the master who led the armed revolt against British imperialism in Chittagong, people have not forgotten his ideals, Surya Sen’s fierce fight against the British imperialism on the path of armed revolt inspired the youth of the nation with new motivation, new consciousness. For the freedom of the country, he raised the gallows with a smile. Give him our salute..

His last letter to his friends and associates spoke about his desire for a free India.

Death is knocking at my door. My mind is flying away towards eternity …At such a pleasant, at such a grave, at such a solemn moment, what shall I leave behind you? Only one thing, that is my dream, a golden dream-the dream of Free India…. Never forget the 18th of April, 1930, the day of the eastern Rebellion in Chittagong… Write in red letters in the core of your hearts the names of the patriots who have sacrificed their lives at the altar of India’s freedom.

Our humble tribute today on Masterdar’s death day…
