Travesty of Justice: How Bengaluru Law College Destroyed a Student’s Future for Questioning Unethical Practices
Bengaluru, Dec 23 (NewsTapOne Exclusive): In a shocking case of institutionalized vengeance, Oxford College of Law, Bengaluru has comprehensively destroyed an LLB student’s academic future and mental health over 8 months. 22-year-old Sachin Kumar G K’s only fault – consistently questioning the college’s multiple unethical practices as an elected student representative.
In an explosive tell-all interview to NewsTapOne, Sachin detailed the orchestrated decimation of his career wrought by the college for daring to speak truth to power since April 2023.
“It began when I objected to the college unlawfully withholding original academic documents of students and demanding outrageous fees for their return. This brazenly illegal practice had become normalized. When I approached the management, they arrogantly dismissed my concerns,” Sachin revealed.
Realizing his vocal complaints were falling on deaf ears, Sachin sent a strongly-worded registered letter in April to the Chairman and other senior officials, blowing the lid off the collegeโs unlawful document retention and other unresolved student grievances.
โTeachers were routinely skipping classes and just assigning assignments to mark attendance. Many of my classmates and I often found the syllabus incomplete as faculty members frequently remained absent or refused to teach. They would simply instruct us to submit assignments instead of proper instruction,โ disclosed Sachin.
โCollege lifts sorely lacked licenses and safety mechanisms. I got trapped inside the faulty lifts 5 times due to technical issues, but each complaint was ignored. Severe lack of drinking water supply, filthy washrooms with no maintenance, broken classroom door locks disrupting studies – I detailed all these pressing problems in the letter,โ he added.
โAlso, the college had been overcharging SC/ST students โน1510 as exam fees for years instead of the actual โน340. They ignored my objections back then. So I included this unfair practice also in the letter,โ Sachin revealed.
But instead of addressing the mountain of student woes, the college launched a systematic harassment campaign to silence Sachin’s voice of dissent.
โThe principal, chairman, and management representatives including Ujwala Raju unleashed a barrage of harassment against me. Raju publicly humiliated me through verbal abuse in front of other students. She even confined me by force within the college premises to intimidate me,โ disclosed Sachin.
Despite the emotional trauma, Sachin desisted from going public, hoping for internal resolution. But finding no recourse, he filed a police complaint in August 2023, detailing the harassment. He also wrote to the Vice Chancellor seeking action against the principalโs threats of attendance tampering and stopping him from writing exams. No inquiry was initiated.
With the management unrelenting in its vendetta, Sachin moved the High Court as a last resort in September 2023. โThe court judgment enabled me to write my pending exams despite the principal withholding my hall ticket,โ he said.
But even court intervention failed to deter the college from its vicious crusade. In Sachinโs 2nd year, the principal abruptly struck off his name from all attendance registers while still mandating him to write exams.
โHe barred me from attending classes and even threatened to unilaterally cancel my admission without explanation, citing his discretionary powers. My academic future hangs by a thread just for asking legitimate questions,โ revealed a distraught Sachin.
Sachinโs shocking revelations have exposed the climate of fear bred by private institutes to suppress dissent. His refusal to submit has ignited hopes that more students will come forward with their stories, leading to much-needed change.
This story will be updated with the college’s reaction as soon as they reply.
