Former CNN reporter exposes CNN: Racism, Disability Discrimination & Pay Gaps between Genders

Saima Mohsin, a British-Pakistani journalist formerly employed by the Cable News Network (CNN) is suing the news house for ‘unfair dismissal’ and ‘racial discrimination’.

Saima was on an assignment in Israel covering the Israel-Palestine conflict in 2014. While in Israel, her cameraman ran over her leg, which caused an injury and after which she could not return to full time work.

Post this accident, Saima approached the CNN management requesting for an alternative role. She requested for the role of a presenter, in which she would not have to travel long distances. CNN told Saima that, She did not have the look they were looking for.

Employment Tribunal to hear Mohsin on Monday

Employment Tribunal in London, will hear Saima Mohsin’s case on Monday. She has approached the tribunal as she was not supported by CNN, after she was injured while on duty.

I worked hard to become an international correspondent and loved my job with CNN. I risked my life many times on assignment for CNN believing they would have my back. They did not.

Racism, Disability Discrimination & Pay gaps between Genders

Mohsin claims that she experienced race and disability discrimination at CNN. She also believes there was a gender pay gap. According to her, she was not given high-profile on-air opportunities even though she was ready to report live. Instead, managers chose to put white American correspondents on air.
