SSRians: Fighting Injustice, Serving Humanity
If history will be written with honest intentions any day, the “Justice For Sushant” is one such movement led by the common people that surely deserves to be written in Golden letters.
Justice for Sushant: A movement initiated by the people of the country that shook India’s criminal justice system. When the ones wearing the uniform meant to serve justice to the innocent teamed up with the criminals; when the people in power flattered with their ego of being the supreme, attempted to slander a departed soul and his grieving family; when those considered as the heroes and heroines proved their cowardness by staying quietย despite knowing the wrong that happened with their colleague, the public challenged them; the public questioned them; the public confronted them. People of India came together to fight not for a celebrity or a bollywood star but for a fellow Indian. People of India came together to fight a fellow Indian family’s fight. People Spoke, People Fought & People Won!
The journey, very precisely, was NEVER EASY AT ALL! While the internet was foolishly flooding with mental care assistance, some sensible humans across the globe, upon analysing the last photos and videos of Sushant, assembled under a single platform to fight the intentional injustice and that was the moment, The mass movement: Justice for Sushant was born. Having absolutely zero support for straight 25 days, SSRians kept demanding CBI for Sushant. But as I said, it wasn’t easy at all. Even after receiving support from a few, the mission was yet not fulfilled. The pandemic deterred them all from doing public protests but nothing and absolutely nothing was capable enough to break their sheer commitment. The justice seekers felt the need to storm the globe with the first-ever digital protest #Candle4SSR on 22nd July 2020 which was India’s number 1 trend & Worldwide in the top 3 trends!ย
Upon seeing the deliberate delay in the case, the world witnessed the second digital protest on 7th August 2020. People pledged to seek justice for Sushant and trended #Warriors4SSR globally.ย
Citizens kept fighting for 2 months. Followed by a lot of dramatic events, finally on 19th August, the Supreme Court heard the cries and the collective appeal of the public. CBI probe was granted and a billion prayers were answered. The common man triumphed over the elites. India’s biggest public campaign won.
But did the war end there? Obviously, not! The warriors decided to sustain the public pressure till the criminals weren’t punished.
There were many ups & downs in the battle throughout but such has been their love & dedication for Sushant that nothing distracts them even a step away from seeking justice for Sushant. Be it day or night, Diwali or Eid, Sunday or a working day countless people from different parts of the world have been running hashtags DAILY.ย
And even trending hashtags were never an easy task for Sushant’s Army in the first place. They were threatened by arrests of Twitter users; the current DG Home-guard Parambir Singh (former Mumbai CP) went to the extent of accusing them of being bots and even announced an investigation based on it; the TRP scam accused news channel: India Today, on-air targeted Twitter accounts of teens campaigning for Sushant’s justice. Precisely Maha Govt. and their affiliated media houses tried every illogical & illegal sort possible to shut each voice that echoed against injustice.
Here’s the list of the hashtags that have been trended from June 2020 to June 2021.ย
Trending hashtags and taglines for 365 days organically, facing so many threats, with no updates from the investigating agencies, along side balancing personal lives, can never be an easy task to even think of.ย Each hashtag that trends not just on Twitter but also on Koo, resonates the fact that this time the elites won’t be allowed to get away with cover-ups, public will neither forget, nor will let anyone forget the brutality Sushant had to go through, in & after life.ย
Before you get to assume them of being simply keyboard warriors, remember, they have walked on every thorn that came the way.ย Numerous ground protests have been organised in different cities. They have sent mass letters to the agencies probing the case, to the Prime Minister and also to the CJI. They have knocked every door that can help them.ย
ย
On their part, they have left nothing to accomplish justice, but it’s all on the investigating agencies now.
People often say – “You’ll die, society will cry for you for one day, two days, a week maybe, and then you’ll be forgotten. ” With one year having passed since the tragic day, the generous fans, or rather I should say it more specifically, “his extended family” have proved everyone wrong.ย
Sushant’s extended family members, since the past one year, have been relentlessly fighting for Sushant.ย These gem-hearted humans are not just fighting injustice but are walking on Sushant’s path of serving humanity and have been doing various noble acts in his memory!ย
Ya, the same gem hearted humans who, for all their moral deeds have only received mockery, abuses, tags of being unemployed, or belonging to BJP IT Cell
and all the worst that could have been said.ย
However, the Bravehearts have always rejected every given tag not with abuses but with actions. Like, recently when schools and offices opened up, many of them used to stay up all night to save drafts so that the hashtag would trend the next day. On several occasions, they’ve questioned any government irrespective of their bias. This has been their dedication level to get justice. They’ve demonstrated it umpteen times: All that matters to them is justice. “Fair, complete, and uncompromised justice.”
Sushant had penned 150 dreams to fulfill which shows that he had so much to do beyond acting. He wanted to do so much. But sadly, he could accomplish only a few of his dreams. All that he left behind is the legacy of kindness and generousness. And his followers, brick by brick, have been continuing what he left. From fulfilling Sushant’s dreams on Sushant’s behalf to helping people on Sushant’s behalf, SSRians proved that someone’s physical presence can never be a limitation to love that person beyond infinity.ย ย ย
The physical body dissolves, but the fruit of one’s good deeds doesn’t. The person for which the mass has been fighting was someone who loved to be the reason behind other’s smiles. And as is said, “like leader, like followers.” His extended family has kept him alive in his own way.ย
It’s true that Sushant isn’t among us, but because of his extended family, he has been around us. Every day. In every festival. In every hardship. At times in the form of covid help, at times in the form of food packets. Sushant lives on. His legacy lives on.
- ย Even on the Remembrance day, 50 sewing machines will be donated to the poor ones, physically challenged, and widows.
- ย #MaskUp4SSRย
The generous SSRians continued to walk on Sushant’s path and contributed to the pandemic in all the way Sushant would do.
The justice seekers prepared & donated masks to the financially deprived people.
- #Sushant4Education
Sushant always believed in the โRight to Educationโ and had plans to provide free education. In 2017, Sushant started an initiative #Sushant4Education under which two kids got the chance to visit the US Space and Rocket Centre.
Sticking with the promise to fulfill all his dreams on his behalf, Sushant’s SSRians paid school fees & donated books to kids who couldn’t afford to go to school.
On Sushant’s 35th birthday, his fans completed one of his visions, by setting up ‘The Sushant Singh Rajput Memorial Fund’ of $35,000 in UC Berkeley.
- #SushantKaKitchen
One of the certain lessons, that they learned from Sushant is to radiate positivity from the inner self into the world.ย
ย
This was snapped on the sets of ‘Sonchiriya’ when Sushant was feeding the lucky child with his own hands.ย
A beautiful campaign was initiated to feed the poor ones.ย
- #SSRCovidConnect
In 2018, when the country’s two states: Kerela and Nagaland were devastated due to the natural calamities, Sushant Singh Rajput had come to the rescue of both these states.ย
If only had the tragedy not occurred, Sushant would have made his contribution when the country was battling the second wave.
But filling in for Sushant, Sushant ke SSRians created a hotline number through which they helped people by verifying leads for oxygen and beds.
- #Humanity4SSR
The angel in disguise always had a staunch faith in humanity. He not just preached about it but also practiced it!
Once Sushant met his 3 years old fan who was suffering from Blood Cancer. He himself bought toys for his fan.
Under this kind drive , Sushant’s extended family distributed food, masks & soaps to little children.
- #FeedFood4SSR
In order to revive memories of him and as an act of tribute, many participated in the #FeedFood4SSR campaign, by distributing food to the needy.
- #Diwali4SSR
Sushant was one such gem who believed in spreading happiness.ย
Continuing Rajput’s legacy, warriors decided to buy diyas from small retailers so that they too can celebrate the festival. Also, to distribute sweets to the underprivileged people.
- #SushantEarthDay
Sushant was not just an astrophile but a friend of the earth as well, the evidence of which can be seen in the page of Sushant’s diary too! Also while attending a conclave, he mentioned the need to focus on environmental issues.
The print that Sushant has left on people’s hearts is something that will never fade, abiding by which, the justice seekers also decided to add their contribution in Sushant’s this wonderful thought too.
SSRians followed various precautionary norms to preserve the environment. Also,
recycled old greetings cards to make new shopping bags and cards.ย
- #Plants4SSR
Out of Sushant’s 50 dreams, one of them was to plant 1000 trees.ย
And his extended family gave his dreams the wings it deserved. Across the globe, more than one lakh trees were planted.
The bond between SSR and his fans is indeed ‘eternal.’ The Remembrance day surely won’t be easy for any of them. But even then, with teary eyes, shedding heart, and shattered soul, they will continue to fight for our Sushant.
No matter what, we will never be able to process the fact that this smile, this laugh & this charming face will never be seen againโฆ.
To the SSRians, who have stayed with my words, accept a bow! What you all have been doing, and what you all have done, is something nobody does even for their blood relatives. Thank you for fighting for Sushant. Thank you for fighting for Disha. Thank you for keeping Sushant alive by continuing his legacy. Thank you for making the world feel Sushant’s presence around. Thank you for not giving up. Thank you for being a brave warrior. Thank you for being an SSRian.
All your hard work will pay off soon. Very soon. God will not let down so many pure souls. God can’t be so ruthless to unhear so many prayers.ย
And to the people who’ve stayed with my words, it’s okay if you don’t want to be a part of this movement, it’s okay if you don’t have the guts to fight injustice, it’s okay if you don’t like people fighting for a person who’s not in this dimension to fight for self, it’s even okay if you have ideological differences, all that is not okay, is to mock someone’s genuine efforts / to mock the departed one.
The lesson I’ve learned and wish to share with everyone who’s reading this, is to value people while they are in a state to acknowledge your gratitude. Because that regret hurts like hell when you want to, but can’t pay the respect they deserved when they were alive. Hate will take us nowhere. Appreciate the people around you. Spread smile on faces around you. And if possible, don’t let anyone suffer injustice, today it may not be happening to you, tomorrow it may.ย
