Milestone Mastery; PM Modi completes 12 Years in Power

10 June 2026: Prime Minister served 4,399 days on Wednesday, becoming the longest continuously serving elected premier. The central government during the period of Bharatiya Janata Party became the national political hegemon, expanded to new regions, and attracted support from many communities. 

India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru first assumed the office in 1947, won the first election in India in 1951-1952 and remained in the office until his death in 1964. After that Indira Gandhi, India’s first women Prime Minister was in office for a little less than 16 years, but in two separate terms. 

BJP over the course of past 12 years, has managed to eradicate left-wing terrorism, revolutionise welfare delivery, build the JAM trinity and UPI, boosted rail, road and air infrastructure, reshaped India’s defence and nuclear sectors, and avenge Pakistan led terrorism, especially the recent Pahalgam terror attack, with Operation Sindoor. The government is also managing in the devastating global wars and had also steered swiftly during the pandemic. 

These milestones are the result after Narendra Modi led BJP to landmark victories with record breaking voting percentages over the years. The landmark victory of BJP in West Bengal and Assam, where the party formed the government in Bengal for the first time after independence vanquishing the Trinamool Congress and building a stable base in the province which was once dominated by Congress and Left. 

To mark this occasion of 12 years service, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is set to pass a resolution on Wednesday. As per the information PM Modi, will receive felicitation from the NDA members at the meeting for his hard work and leadership. The meeting will be attended by 72 NDA members , and will be chaired by the PM. 

The PM mentioned the 12-years journey was dedicated to trust, development, and public welfare. “With the blessing of 1.4 billion citizens and the spirit of nation first, we have spared no effort in empowering the youth, women, and our farmer brothers and sisters.  It is the result of the tireless efforts that today, from the infrastructure to the digital advancements, the country has gained a new identity at the global stage as reported by Times of India on Wednesday. 

On May 26, 2014, Modi took the charge as India’s Prime Minister. He was re-elected with a bigger mandate in 2019 and became the PM for the third time in 2024. Nitin Nabin said that Modi’s tenure was marked by development and welfare, with the nation having made unprecedented progress, reported by Times of India on Wednesday. 

Leaders across the globe congratulated the PM and acknowledged his transformative governance, advocacy for the Global South and praised his vision towards an inclusive and economically dynamic India.
