Yogi Adityanath Hails Delhi-Dehradun Corridor as a ‘Bridge to New India’

In a statement made before the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Saharanpur and Dehradun on April 14, 2026, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath praised the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor Project, calling it a “Bridge to New India.” Adityanath added that the expressway is more than an infrastructure project; rather, it is a signifier of “development, trust, and connectivity.” He stated that the ₹12,000 crore Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor Project was an indication of the fast-paced development taking place in the region.

Transforming Travel and Regional Accessibility:
The newly developed corridor, spanning a distance of 213 kilometers and featuring six lanes, promises to revolutionize transport within North India. When completed, the expressway is expected to cut the journey time from the nation’s capital to Dehradun by more than half, reducing the present travel time of six hours to two and a half hours. With the expressway offering easy passage by bypassing urban nodes and providing ten strategic interchanges, tens of thousands of people will benefit from easy passage every day. According to CM Yogi, the new accessibility would spur economic activity within Western Uttar Pradesh.

Green Corridor and Economic Development:
The “New India” initiative is characterized by an effort towards creating ecological equilibrium. This includes building one of the most extensive wildlife corridors in Asia – a 12-km wildlife stretch that will help animals move freely through the Rajaji National Park. Such a design is likely to lower conflicts between people and animals, yet still allow high-speed connectivity in the area. For the country’s economy, the corridor is predicted to be a source of huge income for the Char Dham Yatra pilgrims and tourists visiting the area during the weekends.
Furthermore, by lowering costs in terms of logistics, increasing connections to various industrial sites, and promoting the creation of infrastructure comparable to the best worldwide, the government tries to contribute towards turning India into a global economic leader.
