The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) gave out a strong message in their match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium by beating the undefeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by an impressive margin of 57 runs. The game was highly important, especially considering its impact on the rankings of the team in the early stage of the 2026 cricket season.
Kishan and Klaasen anchor a Formidable Total:
As Rajasthan opted to bowl after winning the toss, SRH was met with a challenge as soon as the game began, with Jofra Archer bowling out Abhishek Sharma for a golden duck. The early challenge only motivated the captain of the Sunrisers, Ishan Kishan, as he hit the opposition’s bowlers in his characteristic style. It was an exemplary performance from him in terms of power hitting in T20 cricket, with Ishan scoring 91 runs off just 44 balls. His knock included eight fours and six sixes to contribute to the Hyderabad team total. The other batsman who complemented him well was Heinrich Klaasen, who played at a steady pace and scored 40 runs off just 26 deliveries. This helped maintain the momentum for the home team in the middle overs.
Debutant Brilliance Dismantles the Royals’ Chase:
The plan for Rajasthan’s innings, however, was thwarted before it could get off the ground. In what may well be considered the best debut for any bowler in the tournament, the fast bowler Praful Hinge took three wickets from his first over of the match through a maiden over. With no runs scored from the six balls and the dismissals of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel, and Lhuan-dre Pretorius in quick succession, the game was virtually decided. Rajasthan was reduced to 1/3.
Though the middle order tried their best to save the situation, yet their compatriot Sakib Hussain ensured that there was no miracle. The precise four-wicket haul by Sakib Hussain costing just 24 runs from middle and death overs rendered any last bit of danger irrelevant. Donovan Ferreira managed to put up some sort of resistance with his lone contribution of 69 runs, along with Ravindra Jadeja making another contribution of 45 runs; but still the required scoring rate seemed impossible. Rajasthan managed to be all out at 159 in the 19th over. Thus, this win stopped the winning streak of four consecutive matches won by the Royals and made it evident how deep the SRH bench strength is.
