Health Secretary inspects AIIMS Mangalore

In April 2026, Punya Salila Srivastava, the Union Health Secretary of India, undertook an official visit to All India Institute of Medical Sciences Mangalagiri as part of the nationwide Swachhata Pakhwada 2026, observed from April 1 to 15 under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The visit aimed to assess hospital services and reinforce the importance of cleanliness and quality healthcare delivery.

During her inspection, Srivastava reviewed essential medical facilities, including the outpatient department (OPD), ABHA registration services, radiology, oncology, and emergency units. Special attention was given to sanitation practices, biomedical waste management, infection control, and patient care areas. She commended the instituteโ€™s initiatives in maintaining hygiene and promoting awareness among staff, students, and patients.

The visit also highlighted preventive healthcare, with Srivastava emphasizing the role of cleanliness in reducing disease burden. She explored activities such as โ€œWaste to Artโ€ exhibitions and student-led competitions, recognizing the contributions of sanitation workers and hospital staff.

A significant development during the visit was the inauguration of a new G+9 undergraduate girlsโ€™ hostel, aimed at improving accommodation facilities. The visit concluded with discussions on institutional growth, healthcare quality, and sustainability efforts, including a plantation drive.
