Civic Volunteers to Get Rs 2,000 Monthly Hike Before Puja; New Pay to Take Effect From August 1

Civic volunteers in West Bengal have received good news ahead of the Puja season. The state government has decided to increase their monthly remuneration by Rs 2,000. The increase, which was announced earlier in the state Budget, will now be implemented from August 1.
According to a notification issued by the state government, civic volunteers will now receive Rs 12,000 per month instead of the existing Rs 10,000. The Home Department has also informed the Director General of Police (DGP) of West Bengal and the Kolkata Police Commissioner about the decision in writing.
The increased payment will be applicable from August 1, meaning civic volunteers are expected to receive the revised amount as part of their monthly remuneration.
The hike was announced in the state’s first full Budget after the BJP came to power in West Bengal. Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta had announced that the monthly remuneration of civic volunteers, village police personnel and green police personnel would be increased by Rs 2,000.
The government has also announced higher remuneration for several other workers. NVF personnel, Pranibandhu and Pranimitra workers will also receive an additional Rs 2,000 per month.
The state government has further announced an increase in the monthly remuneration of ASHA workers by Rs 5,000, recognising their role in providing healthcare services at the grassroots level.
The Budget also included several major recruitment announcements. The government said one lakh vacant posts in the state would be filled, with 33 per cent of the recruitment earmarked for women. Around 20,000 people are also expected to be recruited in the police force, while 50,000 appointments have been announced for teachers and other school staff.
The Finance Minister also said that, wherever required, 10 per cent of the posts would be reserved for Agniveers.
With the revised remuneration coming into effect from August 1, civic volunteers are set to receive an additional Rs 2,000 every month, providing them with increased financial support ahead of the festive season.
